The Campus radio station is owned or controlled by a non-profit organization associated with the University. The Campus community Radio station is experimenting the integration with web-based forms of radio broadcasting, podcasting and FM broadcasting. The Campus station is programming produced primarily by volunteers who are either students or members of the community at large. The training of professional broadcasts is its primary objective. The primary role of this station is to provide a training ground for students in broadcasting courses. The station will also provide their audience with alternative programming. Alternative programes include music, especially campus music, not generally heard on commercial stations, in-depth spoken word programming and some formal educational programming.

The campus radio station will bring together researchers, lecturers, media professionals and representatives of voluntary organizations in different parts of the inland, all of whom have devoted their creativity and energies to the development of education and media participation- ultimately vital contributions to the maintenance and enhancement of democratic society. It is a task of facilitate students to develop and exercise their judgment and to be selective about what they partake of in the flood of content the media make available. It is a task not only of theoretical knowledge, but of practical skills. Actual participation in media production is assigned great importance. Combining analysis and production experience gives young people a much better basis for evaluating what they see and hear, and production, skills enable them to take action to change and correct media stereotypes and images and find suitable employment in relevant fields. It is our hope that the radio station will be a source of inspiration for all who are concerned with how people respond to mass media as cultural phenomena - for many today 'culture' is largely a matter of electronically mediated culture.

The campus radio will link up the University and other marginalized groups with the new information technologies. A combination of radio, CD. ROM, on line computer service such as Internet, and satellite dishes could be very powerful in empowering rural and other marginalized groups.

The Campus radio will make students discuss prospects and share experiences of their educational efforts, provide timely information and allow net working with other University Communities who have similar experiences and opportunities.
